Can't get MOT without sorting it out.
Could be corrosion problems on the A post plug and socket bracket, water runs into this from the leaking pollen filter housing then creeps through the wiring loom
corroding joints all the way to the CCM. Pull up the carpet in the passenger footwell and check for green gundge in the plugs. If found cut and join the wires around the bracket.

right i got it working again. I got a screwdriver and placed it directly onto the lock and then got a hammer and hammered it moderately hard a few times whilst somebody was pressing the unlock button on the drivers door with the engine started to give it most voltage. after about a minute of doing it, managed to unlock.
After it worked i sprayed the lock with wd40. Now it opens and closes 90% of time and the deadlock seems to have been messed up on that lock which is brilliant because if it fails to unlock then you can open door from inside handle.
The window is a complete pain to remove (don't bother) otherwise i would have removed the whole lock and greased it.

It may still be best to replace lock unit in case the next time it locks permanently.
Oops I only managed to open previous post now,hope all works out well.
I used this procedure last week. It worked a treat. With a slightly different way. The hole you will drill will not put you inline with the screw!! I drilled a small hole roughly in line where the screw head is. I then looked inside with a torch to see how far away I was. I then drilled at an angle to get the head of the screw off. It fell off, I could then open the door. 2 minute after that :)
Hello guys. Lot's of great information here! Rear OS deadlocked several months ago (01 Passat) and today I managed to unlock it with engine on and thumping. I also disconnected the pillar harness to prevent it from deadlocking again but it also means that the electric window won’t work. Is there a way to disable the lock while keeping the electric windows working and not having to remove the inner skin?
I am kind of afraid to take everything apart, mess with the window, etc. A few articles suggest taping the window and fully removing the inner skin (in order to replace the lock). However, this one door-lock-assembly-module-removal-handle-removal-mk4-vw | VW TDI forum, Audi, Porsche, and Chevy Cruze diesel forum says that you don’t need to mess with the window, you can pull the inner skin just enough to remove the lock module (but it’s about the front door). Can the rear lock module be replaced without fully removing the inner skin and without messing with the window, etc.? Thanks.

The door not opening isn't normally anything to do with the deadlocking, the can jam just by closing the door. Once you have it open, do not close it again until you have fitted a new lock unit. This comes away from the door with the window carrier unit, do not disconnect the black plastic bracket by pushing through the black plugs or it makes your life harder.
