Terraclean anyone?

An 'Italian tune' is likley just as good and a lot cheaper. Only way to deal with a clogged EGR is to remove it and clean it off the car. A sticky EGR will cause all sorts of other problems as well such as excessive soot in the DPF and intake fouling as well as DMF damage on a manual gearbox car (yes it can as it creates hesitation then sudden torque spike as the power comes on). Modern diesels need to be driven hard to keep them clean but this is at odds with their relaxed low down torque delivery which encourages low rpm driving. If I drive ' normally' my car never gets above 2k rpm which is just asking for trouble in the long run so I will always try to find a safe moment on a journey to drop down the gears and let it rev hard to the redline. I also try to avoid any kind of urban driving or short trips unless absolutely necessary.

Don't forget the most important constituent, snake oil......

I did ask the chap for some pics showing some before and after and hes sending them over to me in the next day or so. Ill post them when I have them.

I am just as dubious as the rest of you regarding Terraclean. I am no mechanic, far from it. After a couple of garages saying that I needed to replace both manifolds for £1500 I was hoping for cheaper fix. I am aware of the repair kits you can get but also hear they are very much a temp fix.

I completely agree that the terraclean is not going to remove all the deposits of carbon from the mentioned areas but after 100k on a diesel engine is it going to at least give it a spring clean and help with my fault code problem? Thats what I was hoping for.

Did a 600 mile round trip this weekend. The car was doing 6mpg better than before. Pulling better on acceleration and no return of the fault code so far. Fingers crossed!

I have had terraclean treatment on my car. It's an allroad2.5 tdi with a 120000 on the clock. It did seem to make it run smoother but not as much as I would have hoped for. I run ultimate fuel and the odd occasion I can't get it the car feels more sluggish. This is about the same as the difference pre and post terraclean.

I think it really depends on how bad your car is to start with. A sooted up poorly running car will likely show bigger improvements than a good clean runner.

Spend your money ifyoubwant but after the trip to the south of France last year my car ran better than any treatment could offer. By some reflex and spend £30 on fuel driving it up the motorway for a bit.
