Would love this to happen for me too! After 2 of my injectors failed, I traded mine in with a VW dealer and bought another B6! Both my injectors went at motorway speed, one at night and one in the snow! I spent the guts of £2k on replacing them. Some sort off money back would be great, after all, the only reason I sold is because it was only a matter of time before the next 2 went!
After 7 days working away from home to have the engine fail late on a Friday just 3 miles from home was the last straw! Recovery to home, then on to main dealer Sat. morning.
Described fault to them: Yellow warning light, power dropped, seconds later no power, as it happened I was on a country "A" road and could get most of the car onto the verge. If the failure had been 30 secs later I would have been in a series of bends with double white lines and no verge to speak of - very, very, high risk.
Monday: call from service manager "Fuel injector problem, but VW as a jesture of good will were prepared to repair free of charge, saving you £2,400". Alarm bells !!!!! no company gives away that sort of money, 2 mins on google had this thread.
First, THANK YOU ALL for the work in making this so easy to find.
Second, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, the money is important, but what is a life worth ? I cover 20-30K / year, I hope I would have the experience to get onto the hard sholder if it hapened at M'way speeds in lane 3 (or, 4,5,...). My better half has 16K on the clock after 5 years, sh will not be diving the car on M'way again unless I can be certain the fault is fixed.
Third, QUESTION: Do VW replace the defective injectors with the same part- so it could happen again ? Or are the new ones modified ?
Car: 56 Passat Est. SE 140TDI DSG 131K on clock, full service history with dealers.
Just to be clear- I love(d?) my Passat, I love the DSG even more. VW need to recall now, one death will be enough to break them with this amount of information on the net.
It shouldn't make a difference if he's still got the vw reciepts in his name for the injectors.He should still be paid out from vw uk for them surely.the fact that he doesnt own the car anymore is irrelevant.he's still forked out for parts unfit for purpose.
I believe the new injectors are a modified part, I’ve had mine done last month on a 56 plate 2.0Tdi DSG (only covered 31k) with no known fault other than a little jerking when warming up. VW replaced all four Free of Charge as I had safety concerns – My car now runs and feels much better / smoother to drive.
It might also be worth while speaking to VW Customer Services about your wife’s car as well – explain what happened to you and the concerns, safety etc

Hi Bombanela I don't know if this works the same way in Portugal but if your passat IS fitted with the suspect Siemens pd piezo injectors you should be able to get all 4 + wiring loom replaced plus a refund for any previous injectors you have replaced,providing you can supply reciepts for previous work done.I suppose you would need to give VW customer services a call and ask them how to proceed.
Car is in the Dealership today for the 4 injectors/wiring loom. Am also having the cambelt and water pump replaced as the car has just turned 4 years old.
There are quite a few comments on this thread about the car feeling smoother in its power delivery and other comments about 10% plus better fuel consumption.
I read an interesting article a couple of years ago about the running in of modern diesel engines. It stated that whilst engines are good straight out of the box, efficiency will increase after 20k or so as the engine loosens up.
It also stated that unless premium fuels were used all the time, the injectors would become less efficient as they would start accumulating dirt etc.,
So you have general increased efficiency from the engine that is potentially cancelled out by reduced efficiency from the injectors!!
This explains why people assume engines are bench run in and cannot increase in efficiency.
So when people are saying the car feels more responsive, it is not neccassarily better injectors but cleaner ones.
Of course the cleaner injectors will give you better fuel consumption.
I will be very interested to see what happens with my car. 12 months ago, when the car was just out of warranty, I started using Millers fuel additive. I have used Millers on every fill up for the last 12 months and I have seen a consistent improvement on economy of between 7 to 10%, this is because my injectors are always clean.
If what I have read is correct I will not see any improved efficiency but it would be a bonus if there were!!
