Thanks for reply I think they meant the sensor flange on the rear of engine, but I can't see how my carpets would get wet.
If you can email it to me at cjpwll@yahoo.co.uk
I can repost it here with new link.
Thanks

hi.
does anyone have the instructions on how to replace the heater matrix
on a golf vr6?,the link does not work for me.
thank you.
tom
You have to take out the whole dash, disconnect the cross member, disconnect the heater box from the bulkhead (including degassing the air con) and then pull the heater box back fr enough from under the bulkhead cross member to allow the matrix to be drawn out of the box. A good tip is to buy the matrix genuine so that if it fails within the next two years, VW will do the job under warranty. If your matrix has burst, be aware that this can be a sign of head gasket failure and more often than not it is due to failure of the electric water pump on the head behind the coil pack. Don't be fooled into thinking this is working just because you can here it, they rattle but don't pump.
could someone please send me the info about the easy way to replace the heater matrix.

On which car, an 8E A4?
If cleaning the old matrix, make sure you get yourself a gasket set from Audi/TPS first as the rubber seals can split. The part number is 8E0 898 380 and it costs about £7. If you buy a new matrix, make sure you also buy this gasket set.
