Well I'v not, but in all honesty Im not sure why id want to have my dipped beams on and my main beams on.BUt then again I imagine It may look quite cool. How does one go about doing this?
well for a start it makes main beam one hell of alot brighter? its such a simple procedure.
' A quick bit of good news to all those who have fitted 1 piece OEM Valeo facelift headlights to their pre-facelift cars and find that their dipped bulbs go out when they select main beam........
I've just done the wiring mod now and its incredibly easy to do when you know how!
Having consulted the Haynes manual and having taken apart a spare indicator/lighting switch this afternoon it was apparent that whenever the stalk is switched from high to main beam and vice versa there is a mechanical make/break within the switch itself.......
The 2 terminals on the stalk switch in question are 56 and 56b; if you can bridge these contacts then it does away with the make/break within the switch and you have dipped as well as main beam at the same time......
The easiest way to do this is to remove the steering wheel (easy enough, just remember to take negative lead off battery and when the wheel is replaced turn ignition to ON before re-connecting battery or you'll throw up the airbag warning light!) and then to remove the steering column upper and lower covers for access to the multiplug that connects to the indicator/lighting switch.
With the multiplug accessible the connection can be pulled apart; the multiplug consists of 14 female connections and the indicator/lighting switch has 14 pins.....
The 2 terminals that need bridging are the 1st (56) and 3rd (56b) pin (counting from the bottom of the lighting switch looking at it sitting from the drivers seat in a RHD car) on the left-hand side.
In case these instructions aren't clear enough the terminals are labelled on the switch , its just you may need a mirror to see them when the switch is in situ!
Sadly I didn't take any pics but 2 minutes work with a piece of insulated wire saw the 2 pins bridged and the multiplug re-connected.
I hope this is of some use to others who were in the same boat as me!'
quoted from another forum, but thats all i used and it works fantastic :)
It scares me
its ridiculously easy, takes 15mins :)
to simplify things, and make them less scary... remove top plastic cover from behind the steering wheel, should be 2 screws and 1 torx. you will now see an array of plugs and wires. disconnect the plug going into the indicator/light stalk. put a wire in number 56 and 56b to bridge it, then refit into stalk.replace cover. go drive in the dark and love your new found lightness when the mains are on! i dont know why he suggests taking the steering wheel off....its not necessary :)
hmmm,I guess that doesnt sound too bad.I might give it a go.Have you got any pictures of yours done and on?
i can get some if you like, probably should do a how to guide!
