Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Just spoke to vosa concerning re-conditioned parts and they told me they have agreement with vw and other car dealers that all parts are new and do come with a 2 year guaranteed as vw rang this morning at 11 to say they have had a good look at the car and noticed my front brakes needed to be replace and my wiper blades are smearing
In there for one job and looking for more when they havent finish the job its in for
Ill have to booked it in at my local indepent garage as soon as it comes back as i aint paying there prices
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
i think what happens to the injector is the seal leaks diesel into the electrical switch inside the injector causing it to short to the injector housing.

Opinions?
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Mine is with Verve Dalmarnock road Glasgow.
Minor dissapointment in that after investigation, it was all meant to happen today and they had the parts in stock.
The call this afternoon was to say that the injectors would indeed be replaced, but the parts wouldn't be there until tomorrow.
Based on being able to get lifts from friends and colleagues for 24hrs, I didn't let this get to me. Not worth it.
Interestingly, the service guy asked when the single injector had been replaced.
I confirmed to him that as I had only just got the car, I hadn't a clue.
Long and short of it is that 4 injectors plus a loom are all going in.
Regarding costs, he quoted £500 for each injector plus £60 for the loom, or as he put it. "You're looking at a two and a half grand job."
He also confirmed that they "are getting lots of these in". All being done FOC just like ours and everyone else's.
Overall I'm pretty pleased to be honest.
As I posted last night, my car is on 119K miles.
A new set of injectors will do it no harm whatsoever.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Well i got it back this afternoon Spot on very smoothand seem more quicker got paper work and a 2 year warranty
all 4 changed and looms
also it says pump, e/u pump, screw, gasket, bolt, harness.
What is this pump and e/u pump?
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Just had a call from the dealer to say mines done. I called VW CS last week, was given a case number and told to book it in with local dealership. Dropped it in this morning, they called me to tell me that one had already been changed recently (I've only had the car a month) so VW had authorised the replacement of the other three and the loom. All done and dusted, ready to collect.
On the downside, the dealer has found various jobs that need doing.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
This all seems very interesting , and good to hear so many are having the necesary work done.
When calling VW customer services, did you use the 0800 0833 920 number , on the VW UK website ?
I am keen to see this through too, i use 35 miles of the M25 every day and do not fancy my chances
having the engine fail instantly with the pace and volume of all the lorries on there, let alone the cars!
Also, if mine is Jan 06 140BHP 2.0 SE TDi, is it almost definitely the engine that is affected ?
It's been a bit hesitant around 15-20mph recently , doesn't always start first time like it used to, and
hasn't been as smooth/efficient . . getting a bit worried
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
I've just sent the vosa form, we'll see what happens.

This sounds amazing but does it mean that they will contact VW on my behalf and I should be expecting call from VW now or should I speak to VW now as the next course of action?
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall

As I'm going abroad next month I would like to have this sorted asap so I'll call VW Customer Service today, in the meantime I've sent an email to my local VW garage so they know what's happening.
Fingers crossed.
