Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
My dealer gave me a standard letter for VW warranty work, which they added details of the items changed, in this case 4 injectors and the injector wiring loom. They have always done this, as I got the same standard letter when they replaced the turbo under warranty (except it had replacement turbo type on it).
It doesn't take much effort for them to do this, but its these little details that keep me going back to the same dealer, even though there are 3 VW dealers closer to where I live.
I would insist on this or something similar because it really helps when you come to sell the car, especially if you don't sell it back to a VW dealer.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Update: Didn't get my call back in 48hrs, so I called back and asked for Lorraine who had been assigned to my case. She told me to book the car in at my local dealer (Leicester VW) for a foc check on which injectors are fitted 'and should they be the ones with the problem' we'll replace them and the loom foc.
Leic VW were not as helpful - as soon as I mentioned 'injectors' his tone changed and said 'oh is this a warrenty job then?' obviously i'm not the first to mention it!
Roll on next friday - my bet is they will find that I have the said injectors but be out of stock or something daft - leaving me with the dreaded yellow fox all weekend! Why oh why did they pick a yellow one for a courtesy car! (no offence if you have a yellow car!):p

Also asked the dealer about proof of the work doing done (for later use ie. selling car etc), Dealer said that there was no paperwork due as it was free of charge by VW - Blah Blah Blah,
Anyway had a follow up call from David at VW UK today to see if all was okay - so I asked him can I get any proof of the work that has been carried out - David said get the dealer to supply a nil balance invoice as proof - any problems with getting this just call him back.
Very strange thats what I got. A nil balance invoice as proof. I guessed this was the norm. Maybe not. You would imagine as the local dealer is getting paid they would print a bit of paper for your records.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Hi, after driving a bit yesterday (motorway/town) I have to say with a new injectors car is a bit smoother and mpg improved, unless my computer froze at 48.5 mpg lol.:biglaugh:
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
My local VW *********** has said yes they will replace the injectors and loom.. HOWEVER I have to pay £50 Diagnostic charge to check they are the bad ones? Can I do this with VAG-COM??

I'd challenge that
No one else has had to pay for diagnostics
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Strange
Im not paying anything and its in the morning
Did scan v5 and send it in
I havent heard anyone else paying anything
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
I've been told by VW customer services even though i've not had a fault with injectors mine would be checked FOC. Car goes in this morning so let's see what happens!
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Just had a call from the dealer. Even though my injectors have not failed, they will be replacing all four and the wiring loom.
I have a few other problems and failed the MOT (split coil spring) but the extended warranty will cover these.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
just to follow on from my previous posts car went in today and had all four injectors replaced and the injector loom foc on goodwill from vw and the car seems to have improved performance on the drive home seems to pick up quicker off the throttle and rev through the gears much more crisper oh happy days atb reddevil7
