Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
An update from my thread yesterday. I received the very same e-mail from Mr Southgate at VOSA. Rang VW back on the alternate number and their attitude was totally different. Spoke to someone called Candice who was incredibly helpful. I have a reference number and she told me i'd get a call within 48 hours (haven't had the call yet) from one of the three people mentioned earlier. She said i could go ahead and book the car in, which i tried to do, but guess what? Dealer hasn't rung back (did speak to someone who said shed get her manager to call back within the hour) so i'll wait for my official call then book with an alternate dealer. Can't be bothered with people who haven't got the courtesy to ring back. Thanks again to all advice given since yesterday. Very grateful.

Call at 15:00 car booked in for complete injector & loom replacement Free of charge.
Excellent Customer Service with no questions.
All done yesterday, no issues, seems slightly smoother will be interesting if any MPG improvement but is pretty good anyway.
Well done(once again) Smith Knight Fay, Hyde

Hopefully you'll get the chance to put him right. Might be worth asking him how he got to be manager?
(If I'd typed what I really thought about so-called managers like that, the screen would be full of asterisks.)
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Really could do with people's thoughts on my post 168. Car is still with dealers undergoing diagnosis.
Thank you.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Hi grazzyman
I can think of two options.
1) if you do not trust the dealer then get the car taken to another dealer you have more faith in. If you get two dealers saying the same thing then they probably are not taking you for a ride.
2) go to the dealer and speak to the service manager face to face and ask him to explain the situation, so you feel more cofnortable with their attitude and how they are going to approach the problem.
Which ever route you go I also suggest you contact VW customer services and arrange for the injector and loom replacement as well. In fact that should be done first, and then it will be easier for the dealer to root cause any remaining issues.
Good luck
Tony
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
I've got authorization to do the injector and loom replacement so they are doing that now. At the same time they are diagnosing the other fault. I explained to them already that I want the injectors done first....if that clears the fault codes then it most likely has cleared the problem and therefore there is no need for further diagnosis. But, they are adamant the injectors are fine and it is a problem with the main wiring harness, any maybe with the wires that feed the injector wiring loom. Just seems strange to me. Will call VW customer services again. Thank you.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
This is a golf ? same engine as passat ?
It might have a different wiring set up cant see why or a bunch of muppets working on it .I dont use main dealers
I got the go ahead over 2 weeks ago and a refund within 35 days
Its booked in monday 5th sept
Dealer round my way seems slow with it as its a FOC work and maybe not making a lot of money out of it
Also i asked as they admitted fault is it breaks down between now and then will they recover it thay said no
Its in on monday and was told i need my license and paper part interresting as im over 6ft 18 stone and can only drive a auto as due to a back op years ago i bet i bet a polo or fox
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
PatMcoy
When I got my car last serviced I got a FOX... (I am 6'3 ~14/5 stone + 3 damaged discs), and it was just bearable. I got Polo when injectors were repaired and that was fine....so fingers crossed you get a Polo or better.
Re: Injector Failures - Possible recall
Got the car back last night - the drive home seemd a bit smoother so time will tell
Also asked the dealer about proof of the work doing done (for later use ie. selling car etc), Dealer said that there was no paperwork due as it was free of charge by VW - Blah Blah Blah,
Anyway had a follow up call from David at VW UK today to see if all was okay - so I asked him can I get any proof of the work that has been carried out - David said get the dealer to supply a nil balance invoice as proof - any problems with getting this just call him back.

I didn't get any paperwork either, which I thought was a bit sus
Maybe they're not giving invoices out for warranty reasons, so that if the part fails within 2yrs there's no comebacks
