does your car ever cut out when the light comes on and you come to a stop?
well i have the 6 speed auto- trip tronic gear box.. it used to just come to a stop and sound very loud as a ferrari. But i found that the turbo intake pipe had come off.. after i fixed that i havent had any problems with it cutting off. any idea what the problem is?
mine very very occasionaly cuts out.
and needs the key to be taken out and switched back on in order to start.
the light comes on and if i'm coming to a stop it cuts out, last time happened at a roundabout.
i've had it scanned and the specialists say they havent found a prob or a code related to it.
very strange noboday on any forums has had this happen to them and has heard of it.......bar 1 other person.
he said it got cured once he changed his MAF and also replaced a split vacum hose, i think this is my problem, however none of the garages i've spoken to will do it cause they cant find a code for a problem.
seems a bit odd to me but i rather not push the point as if i know better than them, don't want them to mess up my car cause they think i'm being mouthy
If the car keeps stopping, I think I may know what part you have to change; it may be the AIR FLOW SENSOR. Try this as it is not too expensive. This will make a huge difference, as it did for me. J
The traction control light will also come on if both rear brake lights are out.. ie bulb failure..
Also.. if it just flicks on and off, sometimes the bulb filaments are duff and are moving around...
First thing change the rear brake lights.. -- (if you wanted to test my theory, once both bulbs are out, turn on the car and check.... This works with cars without the bulb warning DIS.
Rick
ahhhh well the bulb thing might make sense to me actually.
will have to test that out this weekend then maybe, will give it a go.
Thanks
Thanks Rick, i think that may work. i may try that tonight when i get back from work. will let you know how it goes. :beerchug:
