buying advice please ref audi a4 avant quattro s line 2007 or 2008

Tried the rugrat in the A4 today as thought rear leg room was a bit limited.

Fact im 6ft 2 and daughter looks as if she is going to be a leggy blond ment that even at 18mths she couldnt get her legs in behind me. Could put 6yr old son behind me but then the Mrs cant reach round to give daughter a slap ;) so back to the drawing board prehaps an A6.

Am surprised at lack of rear leg room though for a so called family estate car.

As said A6 IS CAVERNOUS
A4 aint that bad
Quattro doesn't change the size of your boot space

I too am thinking of a 2.0 TDI Quattro as we currently have a 320D saloon that was shocking in the snow....and we need more room in the boot!!

I think the cars with black grills have what's called the Black Optic Pack, black grill/roof rails and a few extra bits too.

Also the Sline SE seem to have the black grille. You may find the rear leg room an issue in A4 I would assume 3 series is bigger. Think a A4 avant would be a bigger boot not sure if a saloon would be though.

Worth looking at A6 quattro but only available on 2.7 and 3.0 tdi but seem similar money to A4 quattro 2.0 and 3.0 tdi avants the few that are out there.

Ended up going for a 56 plate A6 quattro 3.0tdi le mans saloon in black, the spec is huge.... hopefully Coventry Audi will be delivering it Wednesday....have a funny feeling it wont happen, rushed the sale through to benefit their January figures (only rang up about it Thursday and put a deposit on it and sorted finance before seeing it Saturday) at first they said to get it ready for Saturday would need to move quick, suddenly they realise alloys need refurb, valet etc I smell salesmans BS and they didnt give a definate answer ref Wednesday delivery when left. I will go ape if its delayed as im like a 4 yr old waiting for Santa :aargh4:

Did you get your A6 in the end or did the dealer mess you around? What's the spec? Have been looking out for the 2.7 or 3.0 but they seem to be rare as hens teeth with low mileage - not sure if it would be too big for the Mrs anyhow!

One thing that does puzzle me though - what is the point of the 2.7 variant when you can get the 2.0 with almost as much HP and Torque or the 3.0 with lots more?

Phoned up Coventry Audi last Thursday and had put a deposit on by Friday morning and went to see it Saturday. Pushed for a better deal as it was in their interest to push it through January figures for targets, bonus etc.

Bit p**sed off as at first was lead to believe would have to move quick if wanted to collect Saturday. Then once deal done, deposit paid hour later said it wouldnt be ready until Tuesday and they would deliver it to me Wednesday (im 3 hours drive away) its now ment to be delivered tomorrow, it best had be as im on tenterhooks. Plus had a light covering of snow tonight so ideal time to test the quattro, and VXR is cr@p in snow.

Its a A6 saloon in black, 56 plate, 51k, 3.0tdi quattro tiptronic le mans. Satnav, full leather, DAB bose stereo, having ipod ami lead fitted. Xenons, parking sensors, 19 inch alloys (stupid money for tyres budget are £115, Goodyears are about £180 each so might look for some 18s) original owner must have ticked pretty much every available option. Wasnt sure how would get on with auto but very nice to drive. Was up for £17999.

To be honest at the moment the audi dealers seem to be better priced than private or audi specialists plus you get a years warranty and breakdown cover.

They only do the quattro in 2.7 and 3.0 tdi for some reason the 2.0tdi isnt available.

i'm not to far from cov audi. I also believe they are a Listers branch. Its a bugger to get access in to that dealership if you don't know the roads.

my tomtom was getting me to do a U turn at the lights/junction before dealer (dealership was out of sight) after 2nd time gave up and rang them. Then missed the slip road as you say its not easy to get into :zx11:

Sounds very nice and very well specced!! I too want the leather, Xenons and parking sensors are a must!!!!

How did you find yours?? Would you recommend one of these sourcing companies or not?
