I'm 27 but have only been driving 3 years, with 2yrs no claims, so my '03 GT TDI 150 is costing me about £700 a year!
Swift cover was my best quote.... they were atleast £200 cheaper than the next cheapest quote.
A friend of mine drives a Passat B5.5 1.8T and he is 19 it costs him about £89 a month,
Just to say, i'm 24 with a V6 4motion and i only pay £460 fully comp with 4 years NCB, just have to wait a few more years,
i have a 1.8t 20v golf gti 180bhp and i was insured with my motorquote . com cost me £649 fully comp with no no claims bonus but i was 29 at the time but after my first year was up my renewal quote was 1400 which is strange as i have had no accidents in the 12 years of my driving but i am a bus driver so i think that put it up alot im now insured with my finance company 1st credit and only pay 349 fully comp.
my friend is with tesco, but when i talked to him today he said he was only insured 3rd party, which is a bit dumb if you ask me, so £89 a month for that is way to much.
the cheapest company I have found is endsleigh.co.uk. they quoted me 2300 at 18 with 1 year NCB after havin license for 1 year 5 months (GTI 1.8 T). Audis are in high insurance groups. You can check insurance groups on www.parkers.co.uk and then click Reviews -> Facts & Figures
Just got a renewal quote...
22, 3ncb, 1 non fault claim on a 180bhp gti, £769
Unfortunately, the reason all of us pay so much for car insurance is that young lads can get their hands on powerful cars straight after passing their tests...naturally they want to show off and end up driving like idiots with lack of respect for other road users, usually resulting in accidents.
Under 21's should have a limit of 80bhp or something like that, this way youngsters can build up their NCD and gain experience behind the wheel before being able to drive faster cars.
Sorry that sounds really boring and anti-young people, but I continually see youngsters driving like absolute morons, and blatently can't handle the cars they drive. A young lad in a focus RS or something like that nearly caused a 4 car pile up by overtaking me and the car in front on a blind corner last week. Of course he thought it was hilarious!?
For all you responsible young drivers ignore the above rant!
PS: I'm only 30, but what a difference in attitude between people my age and those of typical 18-21 year olds.
