I agree you should never lock your dog in the car. But a double click will allow you to lock your children in the car - quite acceptable! :p

I turned on the "Auto Lock" feature today on my Mk5 Golf. Is this the same illumination you are talking about???
Isn't "autolock" the antihijack one that locks the doors once you paull away and get up to 15mph? Either that or the setiing that lets you unlock just the drivers door with one click or all doors. There are so many settings on these damn cars i forget.
Glad i read this post though, i've been double pressing the lock button since i got the car in may thinking that activates the deadlocks. Now know for the future. Must try and get out of the habit, might take a while as my mrs has a fiesta that works the opposite way. :banghead:
[quote=stringbeanjean;245458]Also worth mentioning is the fact that a double press will NOT activate the interior alarm.quote]
I think you mean it doesn't activate the interior motion sensors for the alarm. The alarm will still sound if a door or bonnet or boot lid is opened.

Checked my gt tdi, exactly the same, one click is better!
So counter-intuitive!
