Re: What is your favourite.......
5 series before the current shape.
The Audi won it for me on nicer interior design and cheaper running costs.
The OH was threatening to dump me the other week, so I got ahead of my self and starting thinking about the virtues of being single and what I could treat myself too, and then the M5 popped into my head.;)

Any of them, because you instantly know the driver is an idiot :approve:

I was working my way into a lane closure on the motorway on Sunday and everyone was obediently filtering in until at the last moment some muppet comes steaming down the outside and cuts in feet before the lane closed off, causing everyone to panic brake to let him in. Guess which make of car the **** was driving?

My favourite BMWs are the ones in the scapyard where they belong...:D
Re: What is your favourite.......
This is sad I know, but I have been reading both the now defunct “The Motor” and “The Autocar” since the mid seventies, every week. A few years ago, I sent them an email challenging them (with the exception of adverts, I understand commercial pressures) to make it past page 10 of their magazine without any mention or referral to the dreaded car maker to the Antichrist. So far, this has proved to be beyond their literary skills, in fact they often find it impossible to make it past the front cover. I wonder if they produced “International Wheelbarrow” magazine (a figment of my imagination) if they could produce a copy that didn’t have a title such as “3 series rival to the traditional barrow mooted by Munich” headline” or perhaps “Bayerische Motoren Werke comes clean and divulges its interest in UK car magazine publishing” may be a more apt title. Wogan often says something along the lines of “other TV listings magazines are available”; perhaps it should be “other car manufactures are available”? To devote such a disproportionately large editorial space to a manufacturer that produces a relatively small proportion of the overall UK sales smacks of favouritism. It begs the question, “who is sleeping with the enemy?”

Despite the fact that we all agree that BMW's usually attract yobbo's and commoners who think to have a BMW is posh, their cars are renowned for having a good drive.

I would not give a damn if their produce cost £3.50 for a luxury saloon that did 150mpg at 200 mph, road like it was gliding on air, never broke down, was the best looking car since the Miura and got me laid every day with a different super model, I would not drive the crap! I would rather walk naked through a sub zero blizzard than drive cars produced by a bunch of morons with less scruples than an international arm dealer!
Re: What is your favourite.......
Forgot to mention, I owned ONE BMW in my life. About 5 years ago, an E reg BMW 520i. It was woeful. Constant overheating problems, despite fully rebuilding the headgasket, I sorted it out after 2 weeks, only to get a water leak. It was fairly quick, but nothing special. It wasn't special to drive at all.
The worst thing was that I became known as Cain Dingle where I live because he had exactly the same car. :(
Only one place for BMWs, in a hedge or a scrapyard.
