Yup, I don't know why it only seems to occur in the petrol models either. Either they use a different type of lock (unlikely) or its just a fluke!

Hi all.
Just to say that I've got a 2.0Dti with exactly the same problem. So it's not just petrols!
My car is booked in to Audi next friday but after reading this post I'll get my WD40 out and see what happens! You guys might have saved me at least £75. Much appreciated!
I'll let you know what happens after I've cleaned it.
Butler.
Well after a I sprayed some WD40 all over the boot lock on the day of my last post in this thread the car has been back to normal.............until last night when it all seems to be coming back.
I think I'll be getting a new boot catch or sending it to Audi!!
It would appear to be the cold weather might be causing it. Perhaps some water is getting in to the area and then freezing overnight and causing the solenoid to stick. What do you guys think to that??
Cheers.
The solenoid is attached to the boot mechanism behind the interior panel on the boot lid. You can get to it by taking the said panelling off!
Which is what I'm planning to do ASAP.
When I've done it I'll take a picture to show you th solenoid part. If I do it before you of course!
