Re: "Engine Oil Pressure Off" warning but runs fine, Jetta '09 2.0 TDI 16v CBD
Hi All,
Caught a bit of a delay on this fix due to the coronavirus, however got back to it last week.
Did the oil pressure test again with the shorter knee adapter, and found the same values again (1 bar cold @ idle, drop-off at revs).
So knowing that measurement was probably correct, went to a garage to get the oil filter and pickup tube replaced as Crasher suggested.
And behold!

As you can see, the pickup line was properly clogged up with hard black brittle residue.
I`m not certain where this would come from, but the car has seen quite a few miles so I guess this can build up over time.
Now it runs smoothly again as before.
Many thanks to Crasher for his suggestion, and thanks for this amazing forum.
Kind regards,
T
Re: "Engine Oil Pressure Off" warning but runs fine, Jetta '09 2.0 TDI 16v CBD
It is caused by the oil carburising due to modern emissions approved oils being rubbish compared to what we had twenty years ago and long life service intervals which get abused and make the problem even worse.

Very interesting Crasher!
The mechanic did indeed say something about rubbish oils...
What I have also noticed that cold starting is getting a bit rougher, perhaps some damage has been done to the internals with the lack of oil pressure.
Might put in some redex to see if that helps.
Thanks again
