Re: Roof Bars for MY12 Avant
I have had a set of whispbars for 5 years on a few cars and they have been excellent in terms of noise, load and mpg when left on. They look pretty good too. Just changed the feet to fit the A6 flush bars, can highly recommend!

I think this is the closest I have to a photo of the aerobars on my old C6. I'd thoroughly recommend them as I can upgrade the feet for about £40 when I get my next car. Easy to fit, still look modern after 7 or so years and suit the car really well.
It's only half the car as I've left the missus and teenagers out of it!

Another vote for Whispbars. I had a set on my Disco 3 and it was a no brainer to get a set for my Allroad. They really are very quiet. I have the low profile version so the effectively sit low down between the rails.
As others have said; buy cheap at your pearl. Expensive bikes or a roofbox bouncing down the M6 would not be good and likely cost way more than the extra cost of quality kit.

Bit the bullet in the end, went for the audi bars and got an awesome deal on the thule 591's at halfords after they messed up an order for my mrs' bike.
Have to say im thrilled I bought them, defo worth the money.

I bought the Audi bars when I forgot to remove my Thule Whisper bars from my last car, I'm kicking myself over that. The Audi bars are ok but sit pretty high, there's a pretty decent gap between my Thule Dynamic 800 and the vehicle roof. Still it's fairly quiet.
