Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
Hey up, I thought i'd give the blue cable another shot and it worked! came up with the same 3 errors though, but cleared them again and will check again tomorrow.
If it's the same three, will changing the MAF get rid of the misfire problem? or is that most likely down to spark/ht/coil pack - bearing in mind it's fine for days then may be going juddery.
Thanks
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
I would get a new set of proper VW leads which are £75.64 but Bremi, Beru, Bosch and BBT make nice sets.
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
Just a heads up, it's started again, going bad again. Was thinking of changing the leads but no idea how you get to them? See in this picture http://gru-uk.com/car/IMG_1536.JPG the tubing goes into that silver thing, it appears I have to remove that to get to the coil?!?! Is that silver thing 'simply' un do the screws? I say 'simply' as everything is so awkward to get to in this engine

Don't buy a W8 then...
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
haha, funny you say that. I said that to my friend "I'd love a W8, but nah, too awkward" lol. New sparks in and everything seems alright, but I disconnected the battery for a few hours aswell. The HT leads didn't look brilliant as they are ********* own it seemed, but seems to much of a big job to change the leads myself, due to throttle body needing to come off by the looks of it, nah bound to all go wrong. Might get away with removing the black air tubes though, which would be nice
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
So the HT leads can't be faulty because they are too hard to get at?
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
They could well be faulty, I just hope for my sake there not. Replacing sparks so far seems good, but the old ones weren't in a bad condition considering I last had them changed(along with ht leads) back in 2010. But tbh maybe just disconnecting the battery for over an hour has cleared everything, who knows. Off for a 4 hour drive Sunday & Wednesday so hope it's good :P
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
Well it's me again, it's started happening again, so think it's pretty much the HT leads. Pulled them out whilst changing my sparks and noticed the rubber bits around them were falling off, so think the cheap ones Halfords fitted has given up.
i'm in two minds about the moment about replacing them. To remove them, do I remove the tubing at the back, then the throttle body, or will this be more of a pig to do?
I did see Crasher that you once removed the inlet manifold but think that's to big of a job for me :(
my other mind is to just pay a personal servant (VW) to do the work. From what I gather the leads are around £80 or so, but how would they take the ole ones off, or is it easier to access things underneath the car? Just trying to figure out how much for labour.
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
If you can get them off to change the plugs that is the hard bit, running new ones through is easy. Make sure you buy absolutely top quality leads, the AZM is sensitive to poor quality. A set of genuine leads is £75.64.
Re: 2002 AZM 2.0 litre Petrol - Juddering
Booked it into VW, will cost me £150 all in but thats fair enough tbh, they siad they'll need it for a few days :/ but only charing me for £70 for labour, but getting a courtesy car out of it for a few days
It's just in such a silly place to put the DIS Coil, what they werent thinking I've no idea :( as it's under the throttle body and loads to be removed just to get to it.
I wouldn't be suprised if the coil is failing too and might make sense to do them both at the same time, but then wasted money if the coil is fine.
