NNNNNOOOoooo!! Does this mean I will at some point need to retrofit MMI 3G as this was one of the things (plus dealer only updates on maps, etc) stopping me Link:-
MMI2 Radio/CD Always On at Startup - Page 2
So if you don't switch off MMI you have have volume not remembered, etc and loud/default volume as per linked thread??
The MMI 2G High in my car behave like this...
i) it remembers which last played source ie DAB, STD Radio, AMI, CD
ii) it remembers last volume setting, mute setting as well
iii) it it remembers state ie ON or with "Audi MMI" screen saver logo thing, IIRC if MMI screen was powered down or not
iv) it it remembers which menu you were in ie CAR, TEL, and so on... also if sub menu with a section and you "Return" to higher level and go back to the sub menu you were in it will remember what setting you had last adjusted...
Please can a member with 3G give maximum depth on behaviour and function of their system :beerchug:
I've just sat in the car and checked the points you've noted and my 3g seems to do the same.
The only slight issue is that although it memorises mute, if it isn't muted the memorised volume is subject to a default minimum.

Many thanks.
Do you have TV?
Page 73 and 75 of the manual has a section that " applies to vehicles with External AV input" and mentions selecting AV1 or AV2.
I would guess these are for connecting/playing DVD through the TV screens.
Check for connections behind side panels in the boot.

I have the digital freeview tuner. It is called 'TV Tuner' on the list. Without actually looking at it and from memory the list is Jukebox, SD1, SD2, AMI, Tv Tuner and AV Input. The only one that is greyed is the AMI as I dont have an Ipod/phone to connect to it. Many thanks for the replies all.

have a look for the TV tuner and see if it has a 10 or 20 pin connector with AV inputs.....

Are you able to set the default minimum via say "Sound" menu or "SETUP"?
As in 2G on mine I can set default volume for navigation, telephone, sound (will try to update this post with photo of the menu)

Yes it sounds as though settings menus are the same in both 2g and 3g, Nav, Phone volume etc can be adjusted. However in the case of any of the various media sources being played the volume will be memorised at switch off and return to the same volume when switched back on apart from any occasion where the volume is below a preset default minimum. I'm not aware of any way to adjust this default minimum on 3g.
To confirm your 2g is the same, when listening to radio turn volume as low as possible without muting, remove ignition key then when you reinsert the key note if volume has increased when radio comes back on.
Chaser..

Any source if I do volume notch above mute/pause when key removed and reinserted it will be 2 notches above mute/pause... eg third notch will be mute/pause
All sources sound inaudible in this manner, I had hard enough time telling if it ON let alone a neighbour get disturbed.... ;)

Have also checked this out if MMI is left ON with screen powered down, on re entry car will have MMI ON with screen ON...
If MMI is powered down (ie Audi Logo) and MMI screen powered down, on re entry car will have MMI Audi Logo with screen ON...
