No, you mess with the bodywork for fun. The alloys are just the excuse.

i guess not i suppose, but i love the look. tried geting in touch with that avant owner but to no avail. i think he has stretched tires on it and a bit of neg camber. i guess its more hassle than its worth. but his wheels look nicely tucked in. arh well might do a swap...
Hi the offset is all wrong on an A5 rim and the car will Tramline badly,i think RS4 has a simular ofset and that has arch extensions
It'll be a shame if you can't fit them wheels as they look well nice on the b6. I usually prefer oem style wheels over aftermarket.

Completely Agreee, OEM suit the cars so much better than aftermarket, especially as the OEM RS Series wheels are so nice (and BIG!!!) I love my RS6 Rims and think There is no reason to get Aftermarket ones! It would be a real shame if they didn't go on as it would be very different seeing RS5 wheels on a B6 rather than the Usual RS4/RS6 wheels you normally see
+1 here. thats why i want them on badly, but it seems a lot of work. might see if VMR do a rep
let me get get this straight. if i decide to put the a5 rims on, will they just stick out cos they're 8.5 wide or because of the offset? i see other people put 8.5 wide wheels with no probs like the paul29682's A4 b6 3.0 quattro in the thread posted yesterday? thanks guys
The mix of Width and offset will be the issue, correct offset would be fine with 8.5J width, google search Wheel PCD. And it will help you understand it better, I had no idea what it was all about when I was searching for my wheels, a quick google and it really helped me get my head round it all. If I remember rightly, Offset is the most important factor when getting the correct wheels.
