There are two Oil Retention Valves with the same part number. Regards Peter
Thanks chaps.
What other symptoms would these worn valves show apart from rattle noise?
Is there a possibility of added crankcase pressure?
No it is really only the start up rattle due to seepage through the retention valves. Increased sump preseure is usually a blocked breather system. Regards Peter
you can not always go off the picture, it should tell you the quantity required in ETKA Or VagCat.

Hi,
Been a while since I was here last, previously had a V6 passat, which I ran to 150K, recently aquired a bargainous (we'll see) 2.5tdi V6 67k
Bought it cheap, low on power and needing a clean replaced the MAF and hey presto, changed all the belts, now on to disks, pads and calipers and a couple of suspension components.
I did notice this one to be a bit rattley at start up, more so than I had remembered - so was wondering about changing this part. Any ideas where i can look online?
Look online for what, the parts or how to do the job. Regards Peter
