Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Dear A8 tech
Thanks for the info. but none of those criteria will explain why my iPhone will not sync with the car and my wife's iPhone will (bought at the same time and running the same 3.1.3. version software; synced with the same iMac).
Both phones sync faultlessly to her Mercedes Comand system.
I am yet to find a cure but any more suggestions will be gratefully received and tried.
Many thanks in anticipation!
Regards
Mark
Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
I need to correct my post for mmi 3g plus
Max. 2000 contacts per programmed
profile*, each with up to 5 numbers per
contact
►The total number of telephone
numbers, however, is limited to max.
5000
►Plus 100 contacts in the general profile in local memory.
Ok your problem is odd but are there any differences in your settings?
If the answer is no then the most likely cause is the phone not the 5f control unit.
try
iPhone there is a "soft software reset" (press and hold the button at the top,
then slide the red slider to the right until the telephone switches off). The telephone
settings are retained
Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Dear A 8 Tech
Thanks again for the info but I have compared the iPhones side-by-side and all the settings are identical.
If there is a problem with my iPhone, then why will it sync with a Mercedes Comand unit?
There seem to be many people out there (worldwide) that have this problem and no-one has so far come up with a solution.
I feel like upgrading the Iphone 3G to a 3Gs but am concerned that this is not guaranteed to solve the issue.
Any more thoughts?!

Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
I have never had a problem pairing Iphone 3g or 3gs and believe me I have paired lots of them.
One other suggestion if I may, disconnect the iphone battery and delete all known devices from the mmi.
Manually reset the mmi via the soft keys then reconnect you iphone battery and pair the phone with only one phone in the vehicle or within 10 metres
Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
A 8 Tech
The iPhone pairs with the MMI, no problem.
I can make and receive calls, no problem
The iPhone syncs recent calls etc with MMI, no problem
What it does not do is import the contacts to MMI, so I do not have access to names and addresses for use with the navigation; calls; etc.
The MMI does import my wife's contacts, however, no problem and my iPhone will link with her car, so there cannot be an issue with the bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone.
I will try what you suggest as I have not tried that yet and report back.
Many thanks
Mark
Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
My suggestion points towards the phone book transfer and a fresh bonding with no other devices and cleared phone memory with the phone book entry's in order.having dealt with phone prep and all other types of Audi systems its my opinion that if you have two phones with the same firmware and the same settings then the phone is at fault because the the bt control unit within 5f can only import the correct information in the correct format so if the other phone is ok then the bt unit is ok and your phone is at fault.
I deal with phone issues every day and I have never yet replaced a 5f control unit for phone book especially if another similar phone works without fault.
I suggest you contact your phone supplier direct.
There are limitations clearly shown for Iphone and the fact that they don't support sap but support hands free profile only puts them behind nokia and blackberry and in deed sony for audi bt systems
Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Dear A8 Tech
Thanks for your excellent advice- I now have 420 contacts on the MMI directory from my iPhone!
I preened all my contacts on the iPhone and approx 10 were old entries from a previous Palm PDA.
Just one of these contacts was enough to upset the MMI from downloading all the other contacts.
I shall now turn my attentions to the "roundabout" issue and will keep an ear out for the radio issues.
I apologise for diverting from the major topic of this thread, but I initially thought that these problems may all be a software-related issues.
Many thanks again A8 Tech; I am very grateful for your input.
