Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Thanks Mark,
I could try that. Wouldn't it turn off quite a bit of useful info - such as the split screen at motorway exits and some other stuff? I suppose I could just turn off the Nav voice prompts entirely, since they are largely misleading. We shouldn't have to put up with this though.

Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Hi Steve,
Yes, I think you lose the graphics that appear on the left. I agree it's not ideal, but I guess it's worth evaluating as a trade-off - either more accurate voice prompts or more detailed screen prompts. Having said that, I haven't tried it yet as I prefer to glance at the screen and I largely ignore the voice prompts anyway.
Keep smiling! :)

Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Hi Mark
Is there anything new on the MMI/FM station update/TMC problem? I haven't tried turning TP off, mainly because I normally find it quite useful and don't want to turn it off!
My car is going in for it's first inspection service next week, and I'll raise it with Nottingham Audi again. If there are no new ideas, no new software updates that address our problem, then I will probably ask them to reinstall my car's original factory software version. Assuming that they can do that.
Drove to Basingstoke and back today, with all the usual problems of losing Radio 2 reception, no TMC for almost the whole day, and the sat nav telling me to 'now turn left' at every inappropriate moment. It's not good enough, really.

Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Hi Steve,
According to A8 Tech there is a new 3G MMI update due in June, which should fix the "Now Turn Left" issue. I'm hoping it also addresses the radio/TMC/TP issues too.
Having TP enabled is pretty useless for me at the moment, because I lose all TP messages along with TMC and radio stations as soon as the problem occurs, so I have just cut my losses and disabled it altogether. The upside is that I now have perfect radio tuning and TMC behaviour, so 2 out of 3 is better than nothing.
I'd be interested to see if your original software version fixes the issue for you - if you go down this route, please do let me know how it goes.
Good luck!
MF.
Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
The 5f unit does not allow roll back of sw revisions and revision j update's main function rectified the crashing of the control unit.

A8 - that's scary. My MMI didn't have any problems for the first 6 months. I read about the FM station update/TP/TMC issue on here and posted that I was relieved my car didn't have the problem. Car went into the workshop for a oil/filter change at 6 months, and the software update was mentioned on the invoice. And that's when the problems started.
If there's no facility to roll-back a revision, it should be possible to re-install the complete orginal software version over the revision, shouldn't it?
Mark - I'll try turning off the TP next trip. You're quite right that this is also lost on long journeys along with everything radio-related, but it can be quite useful locally around here, which is why I've left it on.

Steve, what I haven't tried yet is starting a journey with TP enabled, then turning it off once the problem starts happening. I'd hope that turning it off might re-enable radio tuning and TMC instantly, but I'm guessing here. If I get chance I will test this, unless you get round to it first.
Best,
MF.
Re: A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem
Hi All.
I think I have found someone else with this problem.
At a meet arranged with another forum I was talking to an A6 owner whos car had been to the dealer that day for a problem with the "turn left" instruction. the dealer said he was not aware of a problem....yeah we know better.
i also told him about the "TMC" issue you guys are having.
I think he may be posting here sometime soon.
He was annoyed that paying for the 3G system and to find its not working correctly is a bit of a "**** take" by Audi......

Guilty, as charged! I'm having the "take the 2nd exit" problem with the sat nav (MMI 3G). As Kite says, it went into the shop yesterday and blank looks all round from the Audi-types. Anyway, it's had an update (Train K0022, MU 0047) but reading on here doesn't make me think it will change anything...but I could be surprised.
Not had problems with TMC but have found national radio stations' reception being variable as I drive around even though I have Alt Freq on. As I get annoyed with traffic reports interrupting music, I have TP turned off, which perhaps explains why I've not had the radio and TMC issues others have seen.
A sat nav not giving the right instructions is pretty poor but as I was an early purchaser of the new A6, it cost me £1,900 - now reduced to £500. So as you can imagine, not happy!
