Yep. 100% but if the hoses and couplings are ok I do not know.

Yep. 100% but if the hoses and couplings are ok I do not know.
If you run the pump by dropping a line across the feed and supply points of the relay (with the relay out) you can watch the pump run and do its job but if it is running when the engine is, then it is fair to assume all is OK in there.
I'm really courios about this, when you opened the tank, did you notice any hole ontop of the grey return hose from the left side suction jet pump ?
My car is totally transformed after I sealed off this hole , actually I had no idea that a little air in fuel could have such negativ impact on the engine performance.
However I,ve noticed another issue, when I,m in 4th or 5th gear and give WOT, the accelration will stop up until I let off the throttle a bit ? Feels like it's a lack of fuel ?
Have a feeling that it's still running strange, but the power is definitly there.
Exept for the content in the cathalysts and probably wrong injector nozzles the engine is stock, but sometimes it feels like the old overweighted lady believes she's a sport car ....
I'll open the tank after work tonight. I have to take a closer look at the grey pipe. About your problem: have you tried to log the boost pressure? Mine seems to lose power if I floor it around 2k rpm, but it comes around at 2200 again. Had this issue on an A6 I had earlier too, and I suspect this is something that should be on these engines. Weakness in software :-)
Don't know how interesting this is , but I came across a couple of Audi documents that may explain why our engines barks only when hot.
It seems like the older 3 plunger injection pumps ( ending letter A-B-C-D and E) only runs with pre injection during warm up phase. When the warm up phase is over ( in my case at water temp 78,1 C )
it cuts the pre injection, and if the conditions in the engine is not right , it will bark ( ignition lag ).
Late 2001, Audi introduced the 2 plunger pumps ( ending letter J-K-L-M ) wich had a redesigned quantity adjuster valve and was running pre injection all the time, also introducing immo in the pump ecu.
By conditions in the engine in this case you mean air in fuel? :-)
Will it be doable to replace the pump with a newer one, or will that cause more work?
Mine barks more with low oil temp and normal coolant temp, than it does when both temps are normal. Have you noticed the same ?
Not really, have a feeling that the oil temp readings are always a tiny bit higher than the coolant temp ? Mine used to be a lot worse in cold/ wet weather
Yes. Oil temp should be higher. But when warming up, my car barks more after coolant temp has stabilized and oil temp has not come up yet. Than it does after oil is warm too.
