Have I got the worst A6 ever made??

Hi,

Was just wondering if I could share my problems that I have had with my A6 since I got it 10 months ago, and see if I have just got a bad one or anyone else has experienced the problems I have had.

I bought the car on an 08 plate when it was 11 montsh old. Since owning it (approx 10 months) I have had the following issues:

• Fog light cracked on collection - replaced by dealer;
• Numerous squeeks from door trims and centre console - removed and refitted by dealer;
• Drivers seat frame replaced by dealer;
• DIS refused to work when cold - replaced by dealer;
• DIS failed again when cold - different DIS installed by dealer (display completly different but works, so not to worried)
• Multitronic gearbox failed at 30k miles - replaced by the dealer
• Bluetooth High failed - replaced by the dealer
• MMI intermitant - software updare by the dealer;
• Rear lights started with condensation now have water ingress - dealer insists this is "normal" for the A6....on going issue
• NOW!!! :zx11: Emissions Control warning light has come on. Audi tec called out, ran diagnostics and was told the EGR had gone "out of its parameters". Was reset and told "that should sort it, prob never come on again. Drove it for 3 miles the next morning and "ping" on it comes again!!! Called dealer and told "it should be ok to drive Sir, the earliest we can fit you in is the 29th April!!

Also, as posted on a previous thread, my servicing is set to the long life cycle. First service indication popped up at 21k....all good. This was only 6 months ago, and I have only covered approx 12k miles since this service (same route to work, same driving style etc etc) and it has just popped up telling me I need a service in 500 miles!! I wouldn't call 12k "long life" especially when it went for 21k previously!

Sorry to rant a bit, but would be interested to see if I have just got a lemon or if anyone else is as miffed as me about Audi "quality".

Ouch!! Sorry to hear you have had so many problems Paul.

I am on my second A6 C6 - I drove the first one for 3 years/70000 miles, and over that time had few problems, except:

Broken EGR valve
Split intercooler
Condensation/earth problem with rear lights
Faulty rear parking sensor (x2)

All of these were fixed under warranty.

My new car is just coming up to a year old/20000 miles, and so far, the only problems are

Squeaky rear seat hinges
MMI 3G software problems (voice prompt issues and radio/TMC/TP problem).

The seat squeak was fixed by the dealer, and I'm waiting for the next MMI software update in June to see if it fixes the MMI problems.


All in all, not a big list for a total of 4 years/90000 miles.

I'd say your experience is pretty unusual for an Audi (judging from what I see others post on here). Let's hope the Emissions Control issue can be quickly fixed and you can look forward to enjoyable, trouble-free motoring from now on.
