Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
Hi all. Just got my tdi sport 105 remapped to 135 hp an 310 nm torque. Giving it a bit of a blast noticed it slips in 4th at around 1400 rpm. It's got a new dmf under warranty an was told it had a recent clutch fitted. Should I worry about heat damage of get the clutch changed. Any advice would be helpful. Cheers, Paul
Re: Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
25 bhp isnt a massive increase in power, but its enough....I would have thought the clutch would have been able to handle the power, but I'd maybe check with your nearest vw dealer or a garage that is vw certified.....can't do any harm to take a look at an uprated clutch....
does it stall at all?
Re: Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
I agree it's not a massive gain just odd after 6 or so miles after map! No stall just juddering feel in 4 th. Not felt before remap so hope local vw indi can shed some light. Can a gt 140 clutch be fitted as I'd guess that can handle the pressure. Cheers
Re: Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
It sounds more like a problem with the way the torque is delivered and that it's rattling the flywheel. My suggestion would be to be careful with it and perhaps ask the tuner that did it to smooth it out for you.
Re: Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
Thanks shark. It is now very responsive and smooth through the gears which is a noticable improvement, but has a lot more kick in the turbo range. Is there anything I should specifically ask for when altering the map?

when u say juddering....do u mean like as if you're driving in too high a gear for the speed you're doing?
I don't know alot about re-mapping, but I would agree with shark, you prob need to get them to tweak it so you can get more torque at a lower rev range....
it's quite common in cars with alot of power that have a sub standard clutch for the power, like the evo 400....
if all else fails, yip just get a tasty new clutch and tick that off the list of mods you have!!! lol
Re: Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
Haha. That's a big tick for a uprated kit. Almost fell over at the price.!! Before the map the speed an gear I had it in was fine. Juddering after yet Gave it some more right peddle an was ok for a bit.just don't want to throw cash at it. Thanks for the advice as I will be onto the company tomorrow. Cheers guys

nb mate, let us know how u get on....coz im deff considerin a remap myself....
Re: Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
Been to both my vw indi garage an remap place. By all accounts the clutch is rated to cope with the torque, de glazed it an it seems ok. Was advised to take it easy. All in all I'd recomend it. Pulls far better in all gears an the power is smooth. Cheers for the help
Re: Clutch slip after remap to 135 hp
Hi, as a remapping company, we normally start the power from about 1500 rpm and above , so as not to put too much strain on the clutch and gearbox.most cars are ok with this power output, may be the previous owner slipped the clutch or they put a clutch in with the old plate .cheers moton
