hi every body i need some advice before to change my break fluid on my a4 1.9 tdi what should i not do and what is the best way to do it any advice is welcome thanks
You'll need a friend for this:
1.) Jack up the rear driver's side (for you RHD folk) wheel and remove the wheel, find the bleed screw on the caliber and attach a lenght of clear plastic hose to it or use a brake bleeding kit
2.) Open the brake fluid tank lid
3.) Open the bleed screw and have a friend press down on the brake pedal. Close the bleed screw BEFORE LIFTING THE BRAKE PEDAL! Repeat
4.) Monitor the fluid level in the tank and DO NOT LET IT GET EMPTY!
5.) Repeat untill only clear new fluid is coming out of the bleed screw
If you don't let the brake fluid tank get empty, you'll be fine. However, if you do, you'll need a pressure bleeder at 2bar to bleed the ESP and ABS systems.
And what with the other 3 wheels ? not worth doing?
then repeat the process on the other 3 wheels. bleed about 1 litre through the system, about 1/4 litre per wheel.
thanks to all .its clear
Or get an easy bleed kit and then you don't need someone to pump the pedal and risk going to low with the pedal. I have a gunsen easy bleed kit. well worth it.
Also you are best bleeding the brakes in the correct order! manual should advise.
