Already want my S line back...
Just took an A4 2.0 TDI SE from Audi for two days while they try and fix my rattling door (which they made rattle when fixing the whistle) by disassembling it and reassembling it.
The SE is another world completely.
I wanted to hide. The steering wheel is awful. The seats are not as good. The ride is super-bouncy (felt like I was on the moon). There's no 3G, so I have finally experienced the MMI without 3G and its graphics processor - I cannot believe how jerky the radio station scrolling is - it can't be that hard to scroll a list of lines of text. I could program that to be smooth. Oh, the headlights are really poor too.
I guess it's not all the SE's fault - I mean, it is basic in terms of the options it has, but I won't be taking it on any joyrides, just to experience it and have a bit of fun, that's for sure. Straight to work and back.
Tell you what... no advanced key was the biggest initial disappointment... putting a key into a hole to start driving is so noughties.

Didn't realise the SE had a std key.....A KEY.....:yikes:
Re: Already want my S line back...
The fob thing that goes in the big hole is what I call a key. I think Audi might call it a Smart Key, but it's actual physical contact with the car, is what I mean. Not the SE's fault.
Re: Already want my S line back...
Ok but Advanced Key is not standard on an S-Line either - most of the SE's that I've seen at the Dealers are "over" spec'd demo models (which no doubt helps to move them on in a few months).

That's what I said, innit?

Bit unreasonable to expect a lower spec (SE) loan car to have a similar level of spec to your upgraded S-Line ;)
Re: Already want my S line back...
Sure, it would be. But I didn't do that. I mentioned some SE specific things (steering wheel and seats and ride and lights) and then some things that I noticed I would miss, like MMI 3G smooth MMI scrolling and Advanced Key. I honestly wasn't expecting any certain spec. of the loan car, just mentioning some differences I'd immediately spotted.

I have an A6 SE Saloon at the moment, while the are fixing my towbar. I really miss the parking sensors and heated seats...!
Re: Already want my S line back...
I just hope they fix it the first time for you... this is now the fourth time the car has been in for driver's door noises; for a total of 7 days. They have only agreed to pull my door apart and rebuild it because they don't hear what I am hearing and are a few steps away from calling me 'imaginative' but, driving it there this morning, it was like a machine gun.
Bring back the whistling window - at least that only happened at 60 to 70mph.

I drove an s-line the other day and it didn't have SAT NAV and the mmi controls round the gear stick - rubbish, how can anyone drive an s-line .......:D
Why do so many people slag off the se for not having optional extras???
I conceed that it looks better BUT for the number of miles I do a year it was too loud at motorway speeds and as far as i could tell the only difference was the body kit, the seats, the stearing wheel and the wheels oh and the ride. Nothing to do with kit.
After working hard and stepping up to the A4 am I already a second class citizen cos I CHOSE to drive an SE rather than an S-line?????
By the way, I can easily drive 400 miles and get out of the car without my A** hurting.
Maybe that makes me boring.......
Damo:o
