Cabin and dashboard coating coming off?

I am so sorry if this topic has been addressed before as this is my first post in here.
I seems that there is some sort of coating on all the plastic parts of the dashboard and cabin instruments, including the centre console and glovebox. Its coming off and has started to look very unattractive on a very appealing car. I bought the car second hand from a dealer and it did not look so bad because they had covered the entire interior of the car in some sort of glossy oil type substance. I have used Armorall on all the plastic dashboard bits and a proper leather treatment for the leather upholstery. Can anybody suggest what other cleaners I can use to fix the problem as it makes it look like a buildup of sorts rather than an intentional covering failing.
Any other suggestions are welcome, I love this car and want it to be the best it can be. BTW my glovebox latch also gave out and I havent got around to fixing, its held up by blutack at the moment, but this is covered in another section though.
