OBD diagnostic connector problem
I have just purchased a cable with a 16 pin OBD connector to USB for my 2000 B5 Passat. The connector won't mate with the connector in the car because the raised portion of the cable connector shell is wider than the corresponding slot in the car. It looks as though the cable will mate otherwise. Is it safe to modify the cable connector shell to fit or is it incompatible anyway?

as long as it's only the plastic shroud surrounding the 'pins', you'll be fine to trim it, it's a common mod as some ports are tighter than others.

Ok thanks, I'll give it a try.
