'99 golf mk4 GTi 1.8T air induction kit issue!
hey guys,
i've got a '99 golf mk4 GTi 1.8T. i have been looking at numerous air induction kits on the net; short ram, evoms v flow etc. every supplier mentions that they're soooooo easy to install. 15 mins they say!!
well, that's BS:zx11:.
i am very aware that there are 2 sensors running off the stock air induction system. the 1st one (located on the piping) is the MAF sensor. every picture i've seen with an aftermarket air filter still has the original MAF. now, the 2nd sensor (which is my issue) is located and bolted onto the stock air box. its a Power Output Contorl Unit (PCOU). every modified golf pic i've seen does not have this anymore, its like its been disregarded or just plugged up.
which is impossible... because the car wont start unless the PCOU is connected to complete the circuit in order to start the engine. problem is. if i just unbolt the POCU and leave in engine bay, it would sense very false readings!!!
anyone had this issue? can anyone help??:(
i'll post pictures if it helps :-)
many thanks, lajos
Re: '99 golf mk4 GTi 1.8T air induction kit issue!
An when disconnected from its heat sink in the air filter, it overheats and packs up often damaging the coil packs as well, this is why I will not fit an induction kit to an AGU engine.
