mobile phone - bluetooth

im probably about to answer my own question;

If a car doesn't have GSM phone prep or bluetooth, what happens if you press the 'speaker' function on the steering wheel. Nothing?

Also i presume without the above options, you cannot pair the car up to your phone?

-just out of curiosity.

Seems logical.

My last A6 (2005) had the multi-function steering wheel, but no phone prep or bluetooth. Pressing the voice button on its own did nothing, but I found it was useful as an alternative means of cancelling a TP bulletin on the radio.
