Service Indicator Count Down
Hi All,
I have a 2008 2.0 TDI which is coming upto 19k on the clock. I am slightly concerned due to the fact it is not warning me for a service. If i hold the button down it says '1400 miles or 95 days', but there is no message when i start the car.
We have a passat TDI in the family which brings up a message counting down from 2000 every time the engine is started.
Is it normal for the golf not to warn, or should i get VW to take a look?
Thanks
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
My first warning was 1000 miles to service if I remember correctly.this appeared on start up on my 2007 2.0 TDI You still have 400 to go:biglaugh:
19000 miles is pretty good going for a first service Try and find a good independent close to home to compare prices with VW
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
Ah that sounds ok.
I think its on time distance as it had one at 10k.
How much should I be looking at for a 20k service?
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
1st service cost me £150. I just checked the display and my 2nd service is due at 31400 miles approx. This 31400 will obviously depend on driving conditions, speed, revs.
By the way keep a close eye on your oil level as these vag engines vary in consumption levels quite a lot. I used 1 litre in the first 5000 miles but I have read that this can be as much as 1 litre every 1000 miles. Mine has since stopped using as much and I have only put 1/2 litre in since 1st service 7000 miles ago
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
I think something is odd.
I checked it as i was leaving work today, and it said 900 miles or 83 days. I have had no warning of this.
Should I moan to the dealers?
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
Had a similar problem on my sons car, 2.0 tdi it said something like 1000 miles 365 days ! ??? simply get it serviced soon, reset it and all will be fine
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
Has yours had a service since? If so does it behave now and alert you properly?
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
Not enough miles yet, dont panic your on 10k service interval which is much better for your car than longlife!just get it serviced at around 20k and reset till 30k
Re: Service Indicator Count Down
it may be on variable which is why you may ger 365 days or 1000 miles.
you may only do 2.7 miles per day average.
