Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
Hi guys
Been to collect my new golf today, all went well everything in place, bottle opener, extra oil, bodywork in good condition.
Until I noticed that there were no dynaudio badges on any of the speakers, dealer then told me that these were just stick on badges and that a couple of cars that had, had it fitted had come with out them, and that hes ordered some and they will be here next week to be fitted.
Excited about getting my new car I believed this and drove home, later today I tried to find the amp and cant find one under the seats?
Where else might it be ?
Is there anyway to find out / prove if it has got the dynaudio package fitted or not?
Have I been ripped off?
Will I be able to get my money back if its not fitted?
Bit more info
On my receipt in factory fitted extras its listed as RCD510 touch screen radio / dash mounted 6 at the £680 price of the dynaudio kit but it doesnt mention dynaudio, this is what first raised my suspicions
Thanks for any help guys, was so happy hope this isnt going to ruin it all :(
Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
I'm not sure to be honest, but I hope it is there!
Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
Me too :(
Should the screen say audio powered by dynaudio or something along those lines when being switched on ? Instead of just the vw logo
Thanks again
Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
I've got the RNS510 as opposed to the RCD510, but that definitely says Dynaudio on the screen when you first turn it on.
Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
Hi
I can confirm that the screen does say Dynaudio, or "powered by Dynaudio" or something similar when powered up. In mine, only the front tweeters have Dynaudio badges. Most significantly....HOW DOES IT SOUND? There is a huge gulf between standard RCD 510 and the Dynaudio package.

Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
Well I think the audio sounds v.good but not great even still its looking more and more likely that I dont have it :(
Where is the amp located in yours is it clearly visable or does it take some hunting to find?
I bet its going to be a pain getting some if not all the money back (which still wont make up for the fact the car hasnt got it)
I didnt have that many optional extras just the dynaudio, tinted windows and the highline computer and they managed to screw up the most important (to me) and most expensive.
What annoys me even more is that this means my dealer has blatantly lied to me, so much for customer service
Dont know how I'm going to deal with this, thanks again for any more help
Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
Well, I would have thought that the first thing to do is ask your dealer to show you where the amplifier is assuming that it does have a separate one?
Otherwise, do some research and even phone VW Milton Keynes for their advice. You really can't expect the bozos at a VW dealer to know anything, can you?
Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
If it's not fitted and you've paid for it, it's a clear breach of contract and you'll be, at the very least, entitled to your money back...

Absolutely right, they can't charge you for something you haven't had! I had a similar situation with mine where they forgot to order the Park Assist. I noticed this as soon as I saw the car as there should be a button for it in the centre console. The initial comment from the salesman was along the lines of "it's been changed now so it gets activated automatically". While he was doing the paperwork I checked the manual and it clearly says it's activated with the button. After some discussion with the mechanics they conceeded that it wasn't fitted. Their initial offer was a refund of what I had paid for the Park Assist, plus the same again on top as compensation. I declined that, so they came back with three options: 1) £500 compensation. 2) Keep the car that I was PX'ing, they would order the correct model and I could have that whenit arrived at the same cost. Bearing in mind the reduced value of my PX, the VW price rise and the VAT rise that would have cost them a bit. 3) Drive away the new car, they would order a replacement, and they would then doing me a very favourable PX when the correct model arrived.
Option 3 was out as that would still have cost me a couple of grand I guess. If I'd really wanted the Park Assist I'd have gone for option 2, but as it was a bit of a gimmick that I probably wouldn't have used that much, and I'd already been waiting six months for the car, I went for a slight variation on option 1.
Not much use to you as you obviously really want the Dynaudio, but it gives you an idea of what to expect from your dealer. Although someone else on this forum got their car without heated seats, and they got to drive it while the dealer ordered a replacement at no cost.
But back to whether you do have it. I checked under the seats and there is something under the passenger seat, but that looks more like an ECU than an amp, so that doesn't really help.
The codes on the vehicle identifacation sticker in the boot show what options are fitted. Get someone from VW to tell you the code for Dynaudio.
As for this sticker on the speaker's, it doesn't look like a sticker to me. The Dynaudio badge is recessed in to the speaker trim, in fact the chrome surround stops where it meets the badge - see attached photo.
Good luck and let us know what happens.
Re: Golf Collected ... All well .. until dynaudio
Thanks ever so much blackthorn my tweeters arnt shaped like that at all and they are covered in a plastic grill not metal like yours
Just seems stupid to me that they fitted the RCD510 but not the dynaudio even though its in the same package.
I'll have a look about the sticker you mention that would help alot
I have nothing at all under either of the seats so I spose that confirms it
Thanks for everyones help, just abit of a downer that I wont actually be able to hear the dynaudio now after ive heard so many rave reviews about it (out of all 3 dealers around me none of them have the dynaudio on there golf demos)
I dont think I could wait another 5 months for a 1.4 Tsi but ill see what happens, not looking forward to telling the dealer he has lied to me haha :)
