Hi there everyone
just after a little advise again. recently the coolant level/temp con has beening coming on. its in red and only seems to happen when the engine is cold (first thing in a morning)
it will stay on for perhaps 20 mins of driving then go out. the level of coolant is fine and the system has no leaks. the operating temp is stable at 90*.
seems to me that it may be a fault sensor but does anyone know which one is favourite??? (1.8t engine code AEB)

I'm not sure what you mean "coolant level/temp con " con what is con. First thing to check is the header tank level sensor connector. Regards Peter

i have checked the connections of the level switch in the header tank and also the temp sender in the bottom radiator hose, all seems ok!!

The temp sender is at the rear of the engine with a 4 pin connector. It has two elements to it one for the ECU, one for the guage. The sensor in the bottom hose is the two stage cooling fan switch. Regards Peter
Remove the connector on the coolant shortage indicator switch F66 on the header tank.Bridge the 2 connectors,if the fault is rectified,replace the tank.

linked out switch f66 and as you say the fault has cleared and not returned!!! any ideas of a price for a expansion tank??
