A6 1.9tdi Gearbox Problem
Hi -can anyone give me some idea what is likely to be wrong?
2003 Audi A6 1.9tdi - about 57k miles
Two weeks ago started to have difficulty getting it into first and reverse gear - this has gradually become worse and more frequent.
No grinding noise and only is a problem when the car is stationary.
When the car is switched off it goes into gear quite easily.
Yesterday went to car to find that it won't go into any gear - it simply won't allow the gear to engage at all.
The problem is not temperature affected as it does it hot and cold
I can only get it into first gear by starting in gear and when running I can use rest of gears - the change seems good.
Obviously my problems begin when I get to the first set of lights!
No slipping or grinding noise
It has jumped out of first gear once whilst stationary but I'm not sure if gear was not fully engaged by me due to resistance or it came out of its own accord
Can anyone give me their wisdom?
Cheers
Re: A6 1.9tdi Gearbox Problem
This is most probably clutch drag, possibly air in the clutch hydraulics but more likely to be a failing Dual Mass Flywheel. If it is not the hydraulics then the GB needs to come off and they will then identify if it the DMF of just a cluch problem. 57K is a bit low but not the lowest we have seen with a DMF failure.
