Bora boot not opening? but can hear latch release
Hi folks, (relocated to the Bora section)
couple of days ago my 2000 bora (with central locking but manual boot release) suddenly thought it wont let me open the boot.
when I try to open the lid(pressing the little rubber latch), I can hear the little mechanical release noise but the lid just wont open.
there is no light on the dash saying its open (when i press the latch).
does anyone know whats happend/a fix?
is there a way of opening the boot lid from the inside? (is there a button inside the boot for passengers that get locked in?)/>
any help appreciated.
Re: Bora boot not opening? but can hear latch release
FAULT FOUND!
ok folks, I went in to the boot through the back seats and took of the trim from the boot lid. (there is no boot release button inside the car)
found that a little plastic ARM in charge of opening the actual lock was broken. God only knows why the arm was made of plastic when the connecting rod is metal.
any way, when you press the release lever from the outside to open the boot, a little solenoid types of mechanism 'pushes' out a rod that in-turn Pushes the now 'broken arm' which is connected to a rod that opens the lock.
anyway, just though ill put it up here in case someone else was having same problems of hearing a the boot latch release, but the lock not opening.
now, its a case of finding the new part and fitting it.
