hi all, i am thinking of changing my standard headlights on my mk4 and have been looking at angel eye headlights, but i know nothing about them. has anybody got any information on them please?
do they improve night vision?
what would be the best ones to buy as i notice there are quite a few different ones on the market?
are they just a straight swop for the old ones?
and most importantly, are they legal??

they seem to project more of a single straight beam then the standard lights less sideways beam, well mine do anyway.
they were a direct replacment not much you can go wrong on really.
but please remember if you change your lights that they carry the E mark.
that means they will be road legal
and also as soon as they are fitted pop down your local m.o.t place and ask then to line the lights up to legal standard that way the old bill won't be all over you for your headlights being out of line.
to be 100% honest with you they look flash more then anything else.
if your after better night driving lights your better off fitting a full HID kit to the golf, its cheaper then those lights and you get a much much better light from them.

I fitted a HID kit to my golf, 6000K is the limit at which it will pass a m.o.t
if you go 8000 and above and you get a tester in a bd mood they would fail it for the lights being too blue, trust me been there done that lol lol
I got my kit off Ebay and it was £75
that seems to be around the price for the full kits these days.
really good night lights those HID leave the standard lamps looking like a candle.
very simple to fit as well, two wires and thats it, they push fit into the old golf wires, just make sure you connect the + and - the correct way round and thats it job done.
little tip the ballast that come with the kits gets hot, it will need a air flow over it as you drive.
All I will say is your standard Vw Golf Headlights are Sealed units. So DO NOT but an add on set for about £50 they will NOT fit. as stated a HID kit is better, but I have a set of Angel eyes that I fitted 100w Xenons too and not standard road legal 55w and have to say when all full, main and fog are on, you dont need much more. And yeah get you car MOT with the old ones then fit the super bright bulbs
yup, you also get stopped by vosa roadside inspection, they notice your bulbs are not road legal and you get fined, £60 IIRC with 3 points per light.Quote:

yes thats ture, but you can still fit a HID kit, they use H7 bulbs in the standard lights.
to clear up road laws for you and the HID kits.
this is what i was told by the m.o.t tester when my car failed on 8000K kit.
4000K is whats fitted these days by people such as VW , BMW MERC, e.t.c
6000K is the road max legal limit that your allowed.
anything above that is for show use only and not allowed on the public roads.
when it comes to bulbs like the 100Watt they are not road legal unless they carry the E mark , i have yet to see a set that does carry the E mark.
all standard 55/65watt bulbs do carry that mark
