Heater only blowing hot air on passenger side
My 54 plate A4 Avant TDI 130 has got an intermittant fault (but becoming more frequent) where it will only blow extremely hot air on the passenger side. It doesn't matter if the climate control is set to low, aircon on or off, the result is still super heated air. I have taken it to an Audi specialist who linked it up to the software but didn't find any fault codes (and didn't bother investigating further).
Looking back through the forum it seems that several people have had a similar fault where one side will only blow cold air, caused by a failed motor behind the glovebox. Could this also be the cause of my hot air problem?
If so, what part would I need to get and how easy is to replace myself?
Re: Heater only blowing hot air on passenger side
I would remove the glove box (which is easy) and look at what the motors are doing which operate the various flaps. Normally you just need to nudge the sticking one and then it's fine. Sounds like you main flap which controls the hot / cold air is stuck on hot - I find the drivers side is normally much hotter anyhow. Unfortunately I have found my local Audi dealer in Oxford to be terrible - or terribly lazy - they don't seem to actually know abour their owns cars - they just follow protocol!
Re: Heater only blowing hot air on passenger side
I would scan the climate unit to see what the error messages are.
Walter.

Thanks for the responses. Can I ask how to scan the climate control unit, does it need to be plugged in or is there a function to do it on the unit itself?
