yes i too have had the glowplug light flashing, so after looking on here i decided it was the brake light switch.
so i went and got a new one, took the panel under the dash but i could not see the switch anywhere!
i have looked everywhere on the web but could not see anything on it- only other models/makes.
mine is a 2002 a4 avant 1.9tdi
any help would be much appreciated.
Top of the brake pedal...
yeah ive looked there but it does not seem to be there. well not obviously anyway.
i cant really see the very top of it anyway as there seems to be be a bulkhead in the way!
come on.... someone must know!
it's very easy,i've just done it.
type "a4 brake switch" into your search engine,and scroll down to wikipeadia or whatever it's called. a complete breakdown on how to change it,---and i have a bora!!!!

From memory, it is actually to the right of the pedal set (i.e. between the pedals and the transmission tunnel). But this is a hazy memory as it was a year ago I had to fiddle with mine. The brake and the clutch switch are next to each other.
so you only had to take that one panel off under the dash?
i will have to have a better look.... did it take you long?
Panel was simple enough to remove. I wasn't actually changing the switch but I had to hook the towbar wiring kit into it.
finally done it....its at the top of the clutch pedel.
