Voice Recognition on 2008 A6 - Right Pain

Hi all,

Am new to this forum and just taken delivery of an 2008 A6 2.0 TD which I must say am 120% happy with.

Car has MMI (high) and have been playing around trying to get the voice recognition working but seem to be having problems - reminds me of the jeremy clarkson experience on Top gear for those who remember.

Anyone any usefull tips on what I should try. All I really want to do is get it to change between radio, Nav, Media etc and dial the odd phone number.

Think it may be a trip to the dealer for someone to spend 30mins or so explaining how it works if no help here.

Are you sure you have full voice recognition? And not just voice recognition for the phone system?

There is a comprehensive explanation in the user manual I believe.

How would I know if the voice is for the phone only and not the rest of the system?

As its an 08 model any dealer should be able to tell you what extras your car has fitted. Do you have any menus for SDS (Speech Dialogue System) on the MMI? If so then you will have full voice control, if not then its more likely you only have the phone system voice control.

Hardly any have the full SDS kit on there
I just got my 08 one and mines standard mobile phone speed only too

Press it, say something and it will say something about phonebook or something
I think the full SDS brings up a screen of commands?
