Lowered springs and shocks?

Hi there. I own a v6 tdi and have just replaced the aged shocks with new standard ones and lowered it a touch with Eibach springs. It now looks awsome yet th e ride still feels a bit 'porpoise' like on fast roads.

Would VW sports shocks solve the ride or should i be looking at more expensive brands? The ride height has reduced by 30mm does this mean that it would need shortened shocks.

I am trying to achieve a smooth ride on motorways and firmness on twisty roads but not so firm that my teeth rattle. Any suggestionswould be appreciated. Many thanks.

As far as I know Eibach springs are designed to go with standard length shocks. Have you allowed it to settle and bed in? Give it a good month or 1 to 2K miles if you haven't.

Many thanks for the reply, Redbrick. I have had the springs on for about 3 months and 3k. The ride feels a bit floaty on the back end on fast roads. I wondered if the shocks were too soft for the springs and cannot cope with the rebound. :confused:

Strange indeed! All I could add would be to say I don't have that problem at all with my set up- the car feels very planted on all roads.
Eibach branded shocks are made by Sachs or Boge anyway, they are OEM for a lot of makes so probably similar to what you have already.
On my other car, a Volvo V70, Bilstein B6's have been amazing, firm in the corners yet soaking up small bumps, don't know how they work but more comfortable than Eibach shocks.

Cheers Redbrick, i will have to look in to this a bit deeper and see if i can resolve the problem. i may try some VW sports shocks on the back to see if this changes the feel, as i only have standards at the mo. Will keep you posted. CherryB.
