Re: Creaky clutch pedal...
That may just be the cable so do that first but the clutch pressure plates on the 085 box used in that model do go heavy and cause this problem.
Re: Creaky clutch pedal...
Hi I got a MK3 GOLF 1.8 N reg, i have come a cross the same problem with my golf clutch is making creaky noice when its been pressed down and then coming up.
I never been able to find out wots he problem is. is there are any soluction to fix this problem?
thanks.
Re: Creaky clutch pedal...
Three possibilities, a noisy pedal bush, a tight cable or a failing clutch pressure plate. Does the clutch feel heavy? I would replace the cable and see if that makes a difference. Have someone press the pedal and listen to see if the noise is coming from the gearbox, if it is, the pressure plate has failed and you need a new clutch and possibly push rod guide sleeve and seal as well
Re: Creaky clutch pedal...
I fixed mine with a little bit of WD40 on the clutch pedal mechanism.
Re: Creaky clutch pedal...
Be extremely careful lubricating pedals, the lubricant can drip down on the pedal at an inopportune moment and cause your foot to slip.

Good point, but WD40 is only a liquid for a few moments until the solvent evaporates so shouldn't be a problem. WD40 = lubricant of the gods! (Ahem)
I swapped my cable and all was fine but a year later is creaking again. It's quite heavy, I guess, but not so much that it's immediately noticeable compared to hire cars (unlike the brakes).
My clutch, gearbox and engine are all on their way out though so a creaky clutch is the least of my worries! Will try WD40 myself though.
