AUDI A4 Avant 1.9TDi Sport

Hi all, just joined the forum and this is my first post!!!

I have just purchased the above car on an 02 plate 71,000 miles, former lease car with full lease history of work done and servicing etc.

This is my first diesel for some time..

The engine is quite loud - is this normal for this model/age???

Also when idling there is a minor judder felt whilst sitting in the drivers seat, hardly noticeabel but there???

Finally, lifted the hood with the engine ticking over and the middle main unit was a little juddery again - not major only a little really???

Does this all sound OK to you???

The car is driving fine, loads of power and comfort but from having a very quiet petrol SAAB before the noise is worrying me a little.

Your help is most appreciated

Am I in the correct section for these questions??? The return period for this car is coming up so if there is a problem I can get it sorted - I do have six months warranty but I am nervous if I have bought a wrongun so to speak???

I find the Audi diesels are a bit on the noisy side especially compared to the rivals, but they go well. :D

Shaking at idle can be a number of things. I tried a tuning box of ebay but it was way to lumpy on idle, but I do get an occasional very very light shake.

The engine mount is electronically controlled and alters to suit the engines revs to counter act the vibrations, this can cause shakes into the car.

Another thing I forgot to mention - when you start her from cold you get a judder as it starts - again I imagine this nothing but can you confirm - you can tell I am a little green about cars!!!

Yeah all diesel have a shake by their very nature. compare it with another.

But compared to the BMW units and the Fiat JTDs they are that bit noisier and shakier. :D

It can judder when starting especially when cold in the morning. The other day my gf just started it without giving it a few seconds for the glow plugs to warm up and it spluttered for a second, but totally fine straight after.
