A4 Fuel problem, please any help would be great.

I have a Audi A4 1999 2.8 Quattro with a fuel problem i think. I have been told that there may be a blockage in the fuel system. Maybe the fuel pump itself or a fuel filter blocked. Can anyone tell me if there is a fuel filter on the car, and if so where abouts it is. Also if it is easy to change or clean. Then also if it is possible to take out the fuel pump from the fuel tank and clean it and put back together. If anyone else has had a similar problem please help.
