sparking gap 1.6 se

Hi all sorry to post such an easy probleem but i am really struggling with it. I am looking for the spark plug gap for mk4 golf se 1.6 8v 1999.

Haynes says gap should be 0.9mm but my feeler gauges are in inches. i have tried to convert the figure to inches which i make 0.0354 but this seems a big gap compared to the turbos which i have read is 0.028.

any help greatly appreciated

Your conversion is spot on. Turbos may run with higher combustion chamber pressure which would need a higher voltage to spark, seems reasonable that the spark gap is slightly smaller to compensate.
