just done a bit of research, and the new 1.4 throws out 170 BHP!!! FROM A 1.4!!!
yeah its 170bhp...amazing what they can pull out of such a small capacity these days. My old fiesta had 1300cl and outputted 59bhp!
Haven't been in one but such alot of power from such a small engine sounds like the car would be straining itself often....
still, gets there in 7.9s i think so must be quick none the less
Jeremy C said save up a bit more and get the GTI. He just said it was rubbish.... Can't comment myself as I've not been able to drive one.
i'm only looking at this car because my mates father is selling one. (140bhp)
I'd never buy a new car, i haven't got thousands to throw away in depreciation......
from the technical details, max power is @ 6000rpm indicating that this car needs a lot of revs to perform.... and to me higher revs means more wear on the engine, and reduced engine life expectancy.
Nick
yeah car is obviously strained to get that sort of output...
And if u wanna get from a to b quick, you'll be constantly red lining it so mpg = -20...
There are better cars out there....
Firstly, this motor won International Engine of the Year 2006 http://www.ukintpress.com/engineofth...ners/1_14.html - and it beat some rather stiff competition!
Secondly, most petrol engines produce max power at the upper end of the rev range, but how often do you actually "use" max power?
Thirdly, the torque curve, look at the attachment and see how flat it is, and notice peak torque is actually achieved from about 1,700rpm.
Fourthly, engines are perfectly capable of repeated and constant high rpm operation, without any detrimental effect on longevity. Obviously, regular maintenance, with the proper spec high grade oil, and keeping it topped up to the max, rather than waiting for the computer to tell you you have no oil left, would ensure said longevity. This is no different to any engine though!
Fifthly, I do have experience, and was quite impressed!
Well I own one, TSI 170 GT and question me all u want
how does it compare to the GTI? GTI worth the extra cash?
