Hi Folks
Just found my way to this site looking for help with my auto gearbox...
Driving in to work this morning and the gearbox isn't changing up the gears - seems to be stuck in 3rd gear permanently at about 4k rpm. Was working fine on Saturday evening (last time I used it) and haven't had any unusual clunks or noises...
Is it a case of a knackered gearbox or could it be something less expensive? I love my Passat and don't really want to scrap it if it's fixable...:(
could be low on fluid- check it first .
Sorry - complete novice at this - how do I check the fluid level?
there should be a separate dip stick in the gearbox

OK - I'm back! Where would I find this dipstick then? Admittedly it was getting gloomy when I checked yesterday but I couldn't see a thing!
Having had a good look around the various VW sites/forums it would apppear that auto gearbox issues often arise around the 100k miles - which is where my car sits - at 101k - is changing the oil a DIY job or is it better to get it in to a garage to do?
Anyone out there got any hints on this? :1zhelp:
It seemed to clear up for a while but it doesn't feel right at all...

Have the control modual read by a Vag-Com unit or a dealer to see the fault codes.
