Re: VW Golf MK3 1.9TDi ecu
If it has an intercooler the number on my old m reg was 028 906 021 C (Bosch). I have a spare one.

Thanks for such a speedy reply is your spare for sale?
Re: VW Golf MK3 1.9TDi ecu
I have kept the 1Z engine, box and loom as well as the ECU as I intended buying a camper in the future but not sure whether I ever will get round to it. Where are you based and why dont you have an ECU? It may be better to send a damaged ECU off to be repaired as not sure if your car has the original ECU coded to your engine.
Re: VW Golf MK3 1.9TDi ecu
A 1996 90PS 1Z engined Golf 3 TDI needs ECU 028 906 021 GG. 028 906 021 C changed to 028 906 021 FB and is for cars up to chassis number wvwzzz1HzSW030000. The main difference between the two ECU’s is one supports the factory immobiliser and the other doesn’t but there are other minor wiring differences so I don’t think they are interchangeable As the GG is £860 and the FB £966 from VW, I would not like to take a chance damaging it.

Thanks Crasher, but I need this info for a 1995 Golf MK3 1.9TDi, if possible.

Re: VW Golf MK3 1.9TDi ecu
No probs - What price are you thinking and is car ready to run as wouldn't want to sell to you then find it is faulty (it was fine when I removed it)

From memory I was advised about £40, however I will doublecheck with someone tomorrow and get back to you then if that is OK, or you can let me know what price you are thinking of in the meantime.
Re: VW Golf MK3 1.9TDi ecu
It would have been good to put that in your original post instead of 96 then. The changeover happened in 1995 so compare your chassis number to the one I posted earlier.
