Exhaust Gas Recirculation?

Evening Everyone,

A friends car ( a skint single mum!!) has just had this EGR fault diagnosed by the Skoda garage from the diagnostic readout. They have quoted £215 to sort out and fit a new part.

I think the readout was saying that the Exhaust gas system recirculation flow rate was too high.

Any ideas if there is a cheaper way of sorting this? I am reasonably technical minded and can use a screwdriver!!
