GT TDI 150 ticking noise?

Hi There,

I have just bought a GT TDI 150, and i was really happy with it. It has developed this ticking noise from the engine, i will try to explain :

If I am at idle, ticking noise is there (sometimes), when I change from first into reverse, it ticks/vibrates.

If I am at idle and i start the fan for the climatronic, the ticking noise is louder.

With BOTH these instances, if you raise the revs to 1100, the noise goes away completely. My brother (he also has a 150) rekons it may be the tensioner thats not taking up the slack on the belt, until the revs are raised.

Just looking for some ideas before it goes into VW on Friday.

Hi All,

Just thought you would like to know, my golf went to VW for investigation and it turned out there was enormous amount of play in the alternator flywheel, this and the belt had to be replaced at a cost of £144!

I am thanking my lucky stars as it could have been a lot worse!!
